I couldn't leave Ontario without checking into Guelph, to see old friend, 6167. While we've been treated to a succession of valid observations from Joe 6167, I felt it incumbent on myself to check the work out. Once again, the whole area is undergoing civic restorations, and the locomotive has not been forgotten. Understand, this is a work in progress, but if other park locomotives had this kind of help, we'd have a wonderful selection to draw upon for future operations

Drawn into the new location, she is still separated by a few feet from the tender.

The draw bar and stoker screw.

The eye of the draw bar. Imagine the forces exerted on this piece of steel! Note the distortion.

Stored domes, tanks, and straps. These will be re-applied.

6167 was followed in extensive photo essays by Ron Ziel in "Twilight of Steam" and "Steam in the Sixties". She's getting a first class cleaning and renewal. The old girl deserves the "spa" treatment she's getting. By the way, the big Northern is being displayed in the wide open, alongside the station tracks. I think this is going to be a great legacy for the CNR and Guelph.

Before we left Canada, I stopped in at Waterfront Park, Windsor. CNR Pacific 5588 is on the finish loop of her restoration. A few pieces of decoration need to be reapplied. Another beauty, another great Ontario restoration!

Here are more photos of 6167 from October 2011 illustrating the progress on the new boiler jacket.
