Oh no! Not another misuse of the term "trolley". I suppose my cause is hopeless, but the car in the news item is a replica of a funicular car. If a vehicle runs on rails and receives electric power from an overhead wire, it's a trolley car. If it's an electric bus in England, it's a trolley. The following are not trolleys: San Francisco cable cars. Funicular railway cars. (and most especially) Buses with streetcar styled bodies. |
