At least he has what sounds like a first-class emergency response system in his area. It also sounds like there were other people present, so there was someone to summon assistance. This would be a valuable safety tip for railway preservationists working by themselves--if you can't find a "buddy" or have your wife come with you, be sure to have a cell phone charged up and ready to call "911" if you're doing anything the least bit hazardous. Sorting old photos is probably not a concern, but if you're working on the roof of an old trolley car, remember that the law of gravity is rigidly enforced.
