Post subject:  614 and today's steam!

I think we have pretty much covered 614 and its various scenarios. The fact of the matter is there isn't really any news to report, and it appears this engine may not run for at least 3-5 years, or who knows when.
While I would like to see 614 run again(I saw it plenty in the 80's) I think we should focus on what is running, while it is running. I suggest you guys in the east and midwest head to the Ohio Central and some of their trips. 6325 is also a 4-8-4, and runs like a top, which a great support crew, and ownership favorable to steam. They have the 1293 running Mon-Sat at Sugar Creek(G5 ex-cpr 4-6-2) that was just refurbished over the winter, and the 6325. The 1551 is in the shop, and by next year they will have THREE steam engines servicable. This is quite a feat in todays steamless age, outside of Durango and Chama.

There are still tickets available for the June 8th trip. This is 6325 one direction and F-Units the other, and includes a tour of the OC Steam Shops, and a photo runby. You'll probably see 1293 at Sugar Creek also. Not a bad day of steam, instead of worrying about 614 which is collecting dust.
Here is the info on the June 8th trip and contact info.

Enjoy the steam we have today. You never know how long it will be with us. Remember 611 and 1218, and 614, etc!! Well you get my point.
