Central Vermont caboose (or "van" or "buggy" to use two New England terms) 4014 is in the final stage of a long-term restoration. These views inside RMNE's Volunteer Shop in Thomaston, CT show the final painting and lettering taking place in early November. Attachment: DSC_0837.JPG [ 57.84 KiB | Viewed 3329 times ] Project Leader (and 4014's owner) Al Pomeroy paused while painting the CV Maple Leaf emblem. Attachment: DSC_0845.JPG [ 54.89 KiB | Viewed 3329 times ] Stewart Crouse applied CN/CV Orange to the end ironwork. The lettering is now complete and the car is ready for crew service on the Holiday Trains. The major work: car was resheathed with all new siding, the cupola windows and most of the cupola corners were rebuilt, the short end roof was re-decked, all body windows, frames and sills were new, roof was stripped, resheathed and covered with new rubber membrane roofing, and all roofwalk boards were renewed. There were other items as well. It looks very nice, and a full "portrait" will be posted soon. Howard P. |

I have always loved these CNR design hacks. Great to see this one being fully restored. Terrific news, gentlemen! |
