The Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario has acquired a Whiting Trackmobile, model 2TMA with cab, which served the Hershey Chocolate factory in Smiths Falls, Ontario.

The unit is in fully serviceable condition and its former operator has volunteered to teach our crews the fine points of the unit's operation and maintenance.

Here are some photos:

Yes, the funny little bell was applied by Hershey, LOL...

A question arises, after another museum, which owns a similar Trackmobile, has mentioned that Whiting isn't interested in supporting their older products.

Our unit came with manuals, which we will scan as soon as time permits.

I'm sure there are quite a few Trackmobile owners represented on this forum.

Can you recommend good, reliable sources of replacement parts for the 2TMA and other older models of Trackmobile? I presume that many of the mechanical parts were built by other companies, and that they may be more interested in supporting their older products.

Our unit is in good shape, but it is sure to need parts in the future, and the other museum's unit mentioned above currently needs transmission parts to return to service.

Thanks,

Steve Hunter
