Hi All
I am looking to find out when CPR # 4070 , when it was scraped , this locomotive was in the movie Silver Streak, as Amroad # 4070 . After the movie the engine changed hands and when into commuter service in Montreal , Quebec and was renumbered to # 1300 , I know the locomotive when too the Quebec Central , and then I lost track of her .

So what year did she go to scrap ? any information will be helpful , thank you

Pat .

I wasn't aware that 4070 had gone to scrap, at least I hope it didn't. If it still exists, this "movie star" needs to be preserved.

As an aside, can some one tell me what the colour coded panel to the left of the AMRoad decal is called? I was trying to read up on it, but can't recall the name of that device...

It's an Automatic Car Identification (ACI) tag which was a system used from the late '60s 'til the late '70s. The tags deteriorated, got dirty, etc., which degraded the accuracy of the system until it was eventually abandoned.

Classic! Happy memories. I must have watched this movie hundreds of times.

Last I heard it was still sitting somewhere in rough shape but not scrapped. The other Silver Streak engine, 4082, was scrapped in '84 or '85.

It sat at Vallee-Jonction on the Quebec Central for a while, but it was not on site when I was there a year and a half ago UNLESS this is what's left of it. I shot this through the window of the roundhouse at Vallee-Jonction in May of 2010.
