Post subject:  Experimental Gas-Turbine-Mechanical Loco

One of the less appreciated items at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis just received some attention, our Army Gas-Turbine-Mechanical loco. Turbomachinery International has an article on it on their web edition for June at the link below. I think many will find it interesting.

I believe this was the prototype for the Lionel switcher, of which many were produced.

That's correct. There was only one real loco and many Lionel copies. It was a nice size for them. We also have a few of the Lionel versions. Thanks for reminding me about them.
