Post subject:  Another Loss Along the PRR Main (slightly OT)

My daily commute to NYC continues to give me a front row set to the demolition of the New Jersey industrial landscape along the former PRR main.

The latest loss is the Elizabeth, NJ Durant automobile plant. A fire in late December lead to full scale demolition this week. The building was catty-corner from the N. Elizabeth station adjacent to a small yard the PRR called... wait for it... Durant Yard. AMTK still uses the remains of the yard.

The eradication of heavy industry's tempels along the PRR has accelerated, especially near Newark and Elizabeth.

Keep this up and people will forget how many industires were incubated, born and flourished here. Like the auto industry. Elizabeth was almost Detroit... almost...
