Recent discussion about wood freight cars made me think I should post this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vtg-Wood-Railro ... 3106wt_741 |

It is interesting that the Illinois Merci boxcar is missing: http://mercitrain.org/Illinois/ judging by the markings as described in the listing. It would be interesting to see if the other cars are marked as such. Ah, on 2nd look, the framing and supports don't match up to a photo of the Merci cars at all. Bob |

This is strictly a guess but it may be a USA QM "European Service" car which was never shipped and later sold as surplus. GME |

Didn't we talk about this one on RPYN before? Those photos look awfully familiar... |

Bob, I think we talked about a smiliar, yet different USATC boxcar. It was a longer, double truck car built for the USATC after World War II for overseas service. It too was a "knock down" car that could be configured in several different ways. |

I think we talked about this very same 'car' (container? box?), and the discussion then turned to the USATC cars, which are not the same. Its been listed on E-bay before. If you compare the framing to photos of the Merci Train "forty and eight" cars, they are not the same either. My best guess is some sort of early container. |

Guess I should have simply used the site search and saved some time... viewtopic.php?f=1&t=31108 Unless there are a couple of these floating around Wisconsin, I think it's the same one. |

Sorry, I was thinking of the steel outside braced car that was the subject of an RYPN thread a few months ago. Good catch Bob. |
