Our fledgling museum has been offered a wooden boxcar that appears to be from the very first class of Southern Railway boxcars. The faint number is 1565 and the car is approximately 32 feet long. I have verified this car in a 1904 OER; however, given the length of the car, and the fact it is standard gauge, leads me to believe it is in fact much older.

Would anyone have a pre-1894 OER and check to see if this number (#1565) and car length fits a description in any listing for the Richmond & Danville, East Tennessee Va & GA, Mobile & Ohio, North Carolina RR, or Western NCRR?

Am checking with the Southern Railway Historical Assocation as well, but hoping a fellow RYPN'r has this info handy.

Thanks!

I have seen some at the California State RR Museum library reading room and also at the Colorado RR Museum.

Unfortunately, I am not near either of these.
