Post subject:  Steam returns to the main line in India

With first the rejuvenation of the Rewari steam locomotive depot, then the return to operating condition of 8 locomotives, there is now news of main line steam excursions out of New Delhi (Cantt station) using those locomotives.

I wonder if these are some of the same engines that were shown in that 1998 National Geographic video "The Great Indian Railways".

Some might be; certainly some would be members of the same classes seen then.

I like some of the comments in the article, about how steam tourism, or heritage railway operations, were potentially an untapped source of economic stimulus, and possibly operating revenue.
