Here's another story on a proposed streetcar line akin to the Portland, Oregon streetcar. http://www.startribune.com/local/stpaul/139409458.html This is the start of St. Paul's attempt at building a streetcar line or two. Minneapolis has been studying the concept for several years now with no real progress. As always, funding is the issue in such endeavors. A representative of our Museum has already sent an e-mail to the reporter who wrote this article pointing out three factual errors in the first sentence of the article! 1. Our Museum has five operating streetcars. 2. Our Museum has two demonstration railways and we don't "run around just a few city blocks" in Minneapolis but operate through a beautiful park setting partially on the original streetcar private right-of-way. 3. Our patronage is overwhelmingly adult and we carry virtually no tourists. What tourists we do carry ride because a local (neighbor/relative) takes them for a nice ride on our streetcars on a warm summers eve. Such is the current state of journalism training and accurate reportage, at least in the great Twin Cities. Thanks! |

Good luck with the education, Jim. With over 30 years full time in the industry I can say the only thing that changes is the call letters or the masthead.....mld |
