I'm not trying to create new rumors with this; I'm trying to either confirm existing ones or dispel them.

I've heard several rumors over the years that the "DL&W" E8s owned by the Central NY chapter of the NRHS were for sale. Recently, I heard a new rumor that they were sold to Iowa Pacific, but I can't find any information to confirm or deny either rumor online. Can anyone clear this up?

No real rumor that I'm aware of. The Central New York Chapter NRHS sold the E8s to the Saratoga and North Creek Railway several months ago. They posted the story on their own web page. The S&NC has an image of the D&H inspired livery on their home page now. The last I heard, the S&NC had hope to have the Es running and in their new paint by Memorial Day. The CNY Chapter did a great job saving, restoring and operating the Es for many years. It's great that they have now been sold to a new home that will care for them just as much.

Apparently they also bought the E8 at MoT in St. Louis, as well as commissioned a new run of the correct size wheels for the E's.

Agreed. While it talks about the group that bought them, there's no mention in the thread of the E8s

That depresses me that they are not staying in the DL&W livery, but at least they're going to be used again.
