Its a S1, and its number 315! ;) Ownership seems to be a bit of a mystery..even the locals don't know.. the only info I have been able to gather is: Quote: *note 9 Alco S1 315 is on display in Galena, Kansas. apparently it is privately owned, on private property, but is easily visable from a public road. I found the following info on-line: "An Alco Erie engine is "on display" in Galena. It is not really on display since it is private but is completely visible. I spoke with a lady from the Galena Historical Museum and she said the engine had been there as long as she could remember but was owned by whoever owned the lot on which it sits." from: http://www.denverrails.com/db/stlist.cfm?state=KS#1608 http://1stclass.mylargescale.com/Scotty ... Survivors/ Would look sweet in Elmira! ;) Scot |

Hold on..I do have more info.. I received an email in November 2011 (I would just copy and paste the whole thing, but I don't know if the writer would want his words posted..) paraphrased: Erie Alco S1 No. 315 was moved (in 2011) to 1203 Clark street in Galena. Locomotive will be joined by a UP caboose and will be accessible to the public..still privately owned..owner plans to repaint the Alco and the caboose and arrange for access to both. (I was not given the name of the owner) It is believed that Erie 315 and 316 came to Kansas together, used by Spencer Chemical north of Galena. 316 eventually went to a tourist railroad at Belton, Mo..further disposition unknown.
