That's a nice piece! Is that a recent restoration? Sure looks like it. Any chance it will be out for viewing during railfest in May?

She stays in the public area. Chances are she will be running during Rail Fest. And you can run her. See http://oerm.org/pages/calendar.html#Run%20One

Thanks for the info. I plan on coming for the Sunday of Railfest, after the big 3751 trip. Now if you guys get the VC #2 finished by then, I'll be on cloud 9.

Dave

Dave, start counting your clouds. All major tasks are complete but several minor tasks remain. Don't know yet if she will be steamed up for Rail Fest. Scroll down to Rail Fest at this page: http://oerm.org/pages/calendar.html As you can see there will be a mini Run One, i.e. a short run on a siding. Last time the U-Boat did the duties and was pretty booked up.

Marty -
To change the topic, are the two Pullman sleepers at OERM (Corydon, Bison Peak) open for visitors?

The OERM site says they were used in a 2007 movie. I wonder what movie that was??

Bison Peak is open on weekends and other operating days and is in Barn 4. During the week the docents take tours through it. It is in pretty good shape. The Corydon is a far more interesting car because of its layout but will need much loving care before it could be opened to the public. The movie was a Clint Eastwood flop (the name escapes me) but the Museum did get 6 cars painted (exterior) with one interior spiffed up.

Additionally, the National Scene, a UP light-weight Sleeping Car is undergoing some renovation but I do not know if it will be accessible soon.

Corydon: http://www.oerm.org/pages/corydon.htm
National Scene: http://www.oerm.org/pages/upnationalscene.html

Here's two pictures of the Corydon, down the aisle outside the rooms and through all the open doors between the rooms. It's too bad the Museum does not have the resources to make it presentable.

The movie was "Changeling". Not only did several of OERM's vintage passenger cars get some screen time, our ex-Ventura County 2-6-2 VC 2 went up to the former Santa Fe station in San Bernardino for its "cameo". There were also scenes with a Birney streetcar filmed in San Dimas, using a Birney body on a truck chassis (no PE Birneys were harmed in making this film). Southern California where (to paraphrase Shakespeare), "All the world's a sound stage." A more obscure film with scenes that were filmed "on location" at the Museum was "In the Mood", which had one of the old passenger cars and Pacific Electric 717 in the picture at various points.
