Post subject: | Cumbres & Toltec's Tough June |
As reported here on the Interchange and elsewhere, the Cumbres & Toltec has completed the repair work required by the FRA at Milepost 316.2 in record time. Fast completion of this segment allowed operations to resume from Antonito to Osier today, June 6. Just as service out of Antonito resumed today, the administrator of the Carson National Forest informed the RR that the National Forest will be closed due to fire danger, requiring service from Antonito to Osier to be re-suspended. Service from the Cumbres end continues despite this new development, with trains terminating at Los Pinos pending completion of the additional FRA-required roadbed improvements at Martinez Point. Further details are avaialble at the Friends of the C&TS site (see the news link) at www.cumbrestoltec.org. Awful hard breaks this month for the hard-working folks at C&TS and the Friends. eledbetter@rypn.org |
