A consortium of investors from Texas have pooled their funds and have made a proposal to lease 1522 and return her to service.
Two of the biggest donors are a reknown T&P fan and a retired official from the T&NO.
In addition to mechanically restoring the locomotive, they intend to make some cosmetic changes to reflect their part of the country.
They have submitted a sketch showing the "new" look proposed for 1522. It has had somewhat less than an enthusiastic reception in the St.Louis are.

I guess the pigeon perched on the headlight couldn't wait for it to be returned to the museum.........

I'm for ANY idea that would get the 1522 back in steam, including this T&P/T&NO customization proposal. I just wish the heck they hadn't made the proposal on April 1st. Dang!

I kind of like the new outline. Too bad about the friction bearings though.

Frisco1522 -

Hmmmm. Got to thinking about this a little bit. Since this proposal seems to have gotten a "less than enthusiastic response", do you think that the "reknown T&P fan" might consider using his Elesco feedwater heater to put on MofT's 2-10-2 number 502 to restore her to her Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range "look"? Shame to let that nice Elesco just sitting there in his collection, going to waste.

I think readers are rolling this over, wondering if they should bite or not. Doubtless, everybody would like to see 1522 working once again. Doubtful, MOT is at a point when rolling her out once more is a priority.
Damn!
