| Post subject: | Traverse City Zoo Train Proposals (updated) |
Five sealed proposals for the steam train that operated at the Traverse City, Mi zoo were received recently. One would keep it in Traverse City, another would move it to Buckley, Mi which is the home of an old threshers group that holds one big event each Aug. similar to the Mt. Pleasant, Iowa one (albeit a bit smaller !). The Buckley group also operates an ex Detroit Engine steam engine. For details see http://record-eagle.com/local/x19689100 ... GT-Commons It's now seven proposals and they're described at: http://record-eagle.com/local/x19689104 ... mini-train Bob H Bob H |

O Bob H Per the Traverse City Record Eagle, this train will be going a few miles from home to the Buckley Group. see http://record-eagle.com/local/x15955866 ... to-Buckley The Buckley show is held in mid August, so it'll be interesting to see if they have it up and running this year or whether the train will run at other times during the year. Quote: The Buckley show is held in mid August, so it'll be interesting to see if they have it up and running this year... Based on the article you linked to, they will be displaying it this year, but not operating. Quote: The club will begin removing track and readying for the train's new home as soon as paperwork is finalized, he said. It plans to display but not operate the train at this year's Old Engine Show. The group wants to preserve the train and have it running in Buckley, about 20 miles south of Traverse City.
