PLEASE NOTE, For those who may not know, the Sumpter Valley Railroad is a reconstructed narrow-gauge heritage line in northeast Oregon. The Sumpter Valley Railroad's Safety Weekend will be held on April 28 and 29, 2012. If you have ever considered becoming an active volunteer with the Sumpter Valley Railroad Safety Weekend is a great way to get started. There will be numerous presentations, a review of the railroad's operation and safety rules, hands on workshops, an opportunity to work with full size railroad equipment, and most importantly lunch will be provided on both Saturday and Sunday. You don't even need to be a current member of the organization to participate in training, though it is strongly encouraged!
