| Post subject: | Volunteer Accident insurance |
How, if at all, do you cover your volunteers for injuries they sustain while volunteering at your museum? I know ARM has the HMBD program. Who uses the ARM program? What other programs do you use? What other approach do you use? What about disability/lost pay? Here in MA everyone is supposed to have health insurance (watch that tangent!), but most policies don't cover everything and none cover disability. Workers Comp only applies to paid employees. Paying our vols a buck to make them employees gets into other messes quickly. Please note I'm not talking about liability or D&O, just injury/lost pay. Haven't had an accident, just planning ahead. |

Sam, I would just call Hamman-Miller-Beauchamp-Deeble (HMBD) and talk with them about their volunteer accident insurance. Their phone numbers are: 800.272.4594 - 562.439.9731- http://www.hmbd.com The volunteer accident policy we have through HMBD is good and very reasonably priced. To avoid any misconceptions based on your comment in the first sentence,there is no direct business relationship between HMBD and ARM. In other words, ARM does not endorse or recommend any products offered by HMBD. However, HMBD has been a strong supporter of ARM down through the years in very many ways too numerous to mention here.
