Has anyone had any 1940's style reclining coach seats reupholstered lately? I'm working on an estimated budget for a future restoration project. A ballpark figure is all I need.

Thanks,

Gary,

Figure on about $30-50 per seat for bottom and back covers sewn up with you doing the final install (wrap and staple). Fabric varies so widely depending on what you choose and where you buy it. Original mohair is off the charts expensive, but it will last 30-40 years (so put it on new foam) if maintained. Naugas are more common critters, so Naugahyde isn't too terribly expensive, coming in at $12-20/yd. I'd say another $20-30 per seat for installed covers is in the ball park.

I used a great upholsterer in Alpharetta for a 48 seat combine I did a few years back and he had the whole thing done in about 4 days after the fabric came in. We then had one of our guys do the install and the finished product was stunning - a real great example of art deco fabric with reds and golds. The colors were coordinated throughout the car and came out really well.

Hope this helps you some.

Best,
Mike

Thanks Mike, it did. My "wild guess" wasn't too far off
