The website of the Friends of Locomotive 169 (http://www.friendsof169.org) has been updated. Recent photos have been added to the gallery, the timeline has several changes, and contact information for the Friends is on the 'Membership and Products' page. For the 'Facebook' aficionados out there, a new 'Friends of the 169' page is in the works. Be sure to visit all five pages of our website and see what's been going on inside the Alamosa Cole Park pavilion. -Jim |

Is there a sister engine still around, No. 168? She shows up in the video below at about 5:25, during a retirement and dedication ceremony. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sxtr_vCRBQ Finally, what do you plan for that fake diamond stack? Your photos reveal the engine had a straight one in service, possibly as built. Do you plan to take it off, or is everyone so used to it that the engine would no longer look right without it? :-) In any event, I'm glad to see you on the job. . . |

That's a great video! The comparison of the 168 - under steam! - and the standard-gauge locomotive is excellent, and I wasn't aware of all the other attractions in the Springs. The 168 is still on display in Antlers Park in Colorado Springs. Attached is a photo from a couple pf months back. Regarding the 169's appearance, the Friends haven't discussed a whole lot, but personally, I like her 1930's appearance when she worked as the Durango switcher. Thanks for writing, and for the link! -Jim
