I'm updating the links on my railroad links directory and I noticed that the Alder Gulch Shortline website doesn't seem to have been updated since 2010. Have they ceased operation, moved to a new website, haven't updated the old one? Any info would be appreciated. |

I think the news actually appeared here a few years ago. Flimsy? Montana cut the parks budget, they could not afford to keep running, and parked it. |

The railroad is running again this year. I don't have a website, but the most current information I've seen can be found at http://ngdiscussion.net/phorum/read.php?1,213150,213150#msg-213150 |

The railroad is running, but it will be a gas mechanical this year. It will take some work to get 12 back up, but mostly it should be just an inspection and minimal other work. The engine will stay under state jurisdiction, ending an interesting push to try to place the engine under FRA regulations. Since Virginia City will be 150 years old next year, there is significant interest in getting 12 in running order in 2013. Michael Seitz Missoula MT |
