Work continues on the construction of our new car barn. The interior tracks have been laid and the walls are beginning to take shape. Moving in day is expect to take place in early August.
It is hoped we can begin to test BCER 1225 by early Sept.

Why was a wooden building chosen over a steel building?

No particular reason. We are in a "pole barn" type building now and has worked well for us.

Regarding the choice of building materials: Could it be that British Columbia has more lumber mills than steel mills? Be that as it may, it's good to see the new home for 1225 (which came from my "home road": Orange Empire) and "The Duke" (BCERy 1304) taking shape. And a few hundred miles south, the new home for 4449 and its mates.

132' long and 72' wide. There will be a second floor above the workshop which will have a lunch/meeting room, washroom and an office. There is also enough room on the north side for enlarging in the future, if required.

Nice size barn. Will you have sprinklers or a fire detection system?
