You really missed it. Three cheers to the R&N and to the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Chapter for putting on a first class operation today on the "Hopper Jet" excursion. The premise was imaginative, the equipment was in good shape, the staff was polite,competent and attentive and most of all the trip was run SAFELY. Thanks. |

I agree. It was a great trip and a nice opportunity to enjoy the anthracite country with many friends. It may not be "preservation" in the museum sense, but to ride 90 year old coaches behind three 60 year-old diesels (which were specifically built for use in the same general area) was a blast. I only noticed a couple of chasers who crashed the exclusive ticket holders-only runbys, and I will just imagine that they were polite enough to have purchsed tickets and just chose to chase. BTW - anyone know the story of the rusty EMD switcher tucked back by the turntable in Port Clinton? Rob |

It was a great day- again impressed by the trips that R&N does- their staff is courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Train handling was great too as always, impressive to see the pups sing along with 10 hoppers, a caboose, and five or six passenger cars. Good to catch up and put faces to names! The rusty switcher was George Hart's, once on the Stewartstown I believe? Joshua |

The rusty switcher at Port Clinton is the retired R&N SW7 #1201. It was built new for the New York Central as their #8917 in 1951. The Stewartstown engine was sold and is no longer on the property. |
