Like many others here, I also try to follow modern rail developments, partially because I am concerned about our dependence on oil, which in turn is driven by our dependence on driving. What I consider a good development is that some people who are studying new railroads are also studying the old ones, and in those studies, sometimes some older material shows up.

This is the case here, with a web log on high speed or higher speed service in Pennsylvania. In this particular edition, the author shares a look at an existing right-of-way--the former Pennsylvania alignment between Altoona and Galitzen. Part of this look includes photos taken by him from the windows of an excursion with 2102 in 1976, early in the Conrail era. Again, visit a 4-track Horseshoe Curve, position light signals, and other ghosts of the PRR that weren't so ghostly then:

Explore the site; there are other images, some familiar, others less so, at least to me.
