In the eastern "Pony Express Territory" of the state, the Nevada Northern Railway offers several amazingly beautiful rides from Ely with historic equipment in a historic setting. While also worthy of a national award, winning this state sponsored contest gives the railroad well-deserved attention.

Thank you o anderson, I kept meaning to post this!

Thank you to everyone who voted and supported the Nevada Northern Railway, National Historic Landmark. We are very excited to be considered the best tourist attraction in Pony Express Territory! In a week or two a special tourism package will be announced by the commissioner of tourism, so I'll share that with the group.

For those unfamiliar with us we are located in the high mountainous desert of Ely Nevada, a mornings drive from Salt Lake City or Las Vegas. What is unique about us is our authenticity having a little of everything the railroad ever had in what has been called the most complete example of a steam short line railroad. We have two operating steamers, and offer excursion rides almost year round. We also offer the chance to run one of out locomotives out on the line for a 14 mile round trip, with or without a historic freight train.

We also offer Railroad Reality week, Travel back in time - work on a 19th century railroad. You'll work in the shops, on century-old locomotives and cars. Out on the track, learning what it takes to keep the trains on the rails. Then as part of the crew, getting a train over the hill. Finally, at graduation, all of the skills come together when you move a car, as the engineer, from one track to another.

Just so much to do here, including our yearly winter photo shoots and Polar Express trains
