Anybody know the 'behind the scenes' filming story on this?

The season finale of Glee managed to do a full-blown number at a 'train station' as some cast members board a train to NYC, and glimpses could be seen of the following:

1) Wooden station, red with white trim, couldn't place it, looked real enough.
2) 'Metro-North' looking commuter train with an F-unit on the point (see the photo above).
3) Filming inside what appears to be ex-LIRR or MN coaches.

The 'distant' shots at the depot showed track that didn't look passenger quality, more like an excursion line. Foliage was thick enough that it didn't look like California - much more northeastern.

One of the blogs said it was filmed 'on the set' which is impressive, but I'm not sure I believe that one either. Anybody want to 'fess up'?

Normally I'd finger Dave W. and the Fillmore & Western on this easily, but in this case even I couldn't spot it even if it was done there.

The color scheme on the locomotive matches F&W's no. 100, and the depot looks like Santa Paula. My money is on the Fillmore & Western.

With that clue, I'm sure you're right. Verified here on May 9:

I have to hand it to them though, between the F-unit and the white cars with the blue stripe (the F&W ACF cars) it sure 'looked like' Metro-North for background shots, to the point I did a doubletake.

Gotta hand it to them, they edited out anything even resembling California that I could see.

For an episode of JAG, Santa Paula on the F&W became a Russian town--camera operators and film editors had to make sure no citrus trees showed up on the screen when the show was aired.
