Appears that this unit is being salvaged for parts and will be cut up. Engine and main generator are said to be junk.

They knew that when they got it I think, I sold it to the guy who traded it to them and he was aware of the damage to it then so I am sure they had an idea. But they could but another block and main gen in it and it would be a great engine.

They've got two LVRR C420s running up there, they need all the parts they can get.

Let's not forget that the locomotive is totally wrong for their railroad too. It's Long Hood Forward, Uphill half the time, downhill the other half the time (that C420 lacks dynamics which is critical for their operations), and it's core components are failed. Lastly, it's a railroad business not a railroad museum. They will remove that which they need and I imagine if you made a serious offer on what's left they would consider it. The owners like what they like (RS-3s are also long hood forward but they do have dynamic brakes on all four that are currently in service and the 5th one probably has it too)

From the source, verbatim of what was said:

"the 41 is currently being stripped of parts.....Sorry John, she is not going to run again. Too many things wrong with her plus the fact she has no dynamic brakes, long hood forward, and both engine and generator are junk. She has many useful part to keep the others in the fleet running."

So this is 2012 right? I can never get over the fact there are a fleet of RS3s out there haul freight and making money doing so.

RS3s, C420s, C424s, C425s, and a host of other non-EMD and non-GE equipment. The DL prides itself on having made a non-profitable line profitable and doing it using half century-old equipment. It may be a legit railroad company, but it is still working history.

LIRR 200 is now LAL 420, operating.
http://www.railfan.net/railpix/submit/s ... AL-420.jpg
LAL 420 has been operating between Lakeville and Rochester, NY, 5 days a week for many years now..She is usually paired with LAL 425, or one of the other Centuries.
She is in great shape, and very active.

LIRR 211 is the unit about to scrapped on the DL in Scranton.
Delaware Lackawanna No. 41

LIRR 213 is on the Dakota Southern in Mitchell SD. (operational status uncertain)

LIRR 220 is in a museum in Mexico as NdeM 220.

LIRR 221 is now Buffalo Southern 2010, currently stored, but believed to be operable.

So when 211 is scrapped, there will be four survivors.
200, 213, 220 and 221.

In a recent thread, the fate of 210 was uncertain.

She sank on a barge, and was later scrapped.
