CSR project goggles help

Dear fellow steam lovers. I've submitted my application (along with my qualifications for the job) to the CSR folks ( along with a donation to help the cause) for the position of Locomotive Engineer for the high speed runs which will set a new worlds record.

As I'm anticipating having a good chance of being hired for the job I'd appreciate any advice as to where I might find a pair of good goggles that will keep the eyes fully protected at speeds in excess of 130 m.p.h.

Any help will be appreciated.

Wileyx has always done good by me. I've worn both their "civilian" and "Tactical" safety gear. I don't wear "goggles" normally, but I can recomend a pair of

with both the smoke, and clear lenses. They will also accept RX inserts for those who wear glasses.

If we're gonna make the best steam loco ever, why goggles? I'd hope for the best sound and thermal insulation, a nice sheet of glazing that is safe to the speeds to be made, and AIR CONDITIONING!

that ought to get the purists mad....air conditioned steam loco cab!!!

As is unfortunatly too often the case those who took my posting as insincere are wrong. I have made a meaningful financial donation to the effort and ( Lord willing) hope to be the engineer who has the privilege of setting the new world record.

I think you missed the chance when you returned from Europe without asking that question in York........I'm sure somebody knows what worked on Mallard, and she went over 127 MPH (on purpose).

There's not enough left of them to ask.

A journalist riding along with Death Valley Scotty on his record trip from LA to Chicago tried it at 60MPH and wrote about "drowning in air". Imagine it at more than twice the rate.

Maybe a proposal to try this on Mythbusters?

My apologies to Mr. Rowland and others, I misread his tone, which is easy to do when reading text, and when one cannot take into account "tells" such as voice tone and facial expressions.

I certainly wish Mr. Rowland the best of luck in his endeavour to become an engineer on the CSR project.

What a way to wrap up a career! After the Gold Spike Centennial Limited, the American Freedom Train, the ACE 2000, the Pacific Wilderness Railway, the NJT 614 trips, the 21st Century Limited, a brief association with the Ohio Central, the Yellow Ribbon Express, an association with the NH&I, and the Greenbrier Presidential Express, a perfect way to cap off Mr. Rowland's career in steam railroading would be to operate a locomotive that burns an organic, biodegradable waste material while setting a speed record. Hopefully the CSR folks will capitalize off of and benefit from Mr. Rowland's expertise.

As the only other person in the US to seriously try to reinvent steam using updated technology, I am surprised to see that Ross isn't in their list of consultants already. I can't believe that the CSR people don't know of the ACE 3000 project and haven't tried to reach out to Ross, but maybe they don't follow rail happenings and are oblivious to the project.

You can experience speeds of 149 mph on rails just about any time you'd like, and test your choice in goggles while you're at it. Simply go to Ferrari World in Abu Dhaba and ride the Ferrari Rossa roller coaster.

It reaches speeds of 240 kph. Riders in the first row are provided with goggles as you can see in this video.
