I couldn't help but smile at this. It's called "Choc O' The North". Just a simple chocolate bar, but with a purpose. The bar is being sold to benefit the Doncaster P2 Locomotive Trust, and organization that aims to construct a Gresely P2, specifically "Cock O' The North" as rebuilt with an A4 style nose and Gresely valve gear. I look at it more as a marketing idea considering candy sales, unless you make the world's greatest chocolate bar, can't entirely find the construction of a brand new steam locomotive.

This creativity raises a question in my mind on other unorthodox marketing and fundraising methods. Ideas? Thoughts? I can't help but see the genius in this chocolate bar...

Ingenious indeed, and a wonderful little pun there, too.

Candy companies are often open to special things like this; basically, all they have to do (or all you have to pay for) are a label and sometimes a special mold. Such efforts can be surprisingly affordable, especially if you can get some support from the candy (or other enterprise) that is doing this for you.

One firm that regularly comes out with special moldings for assorted clients (under contract, of course) is DeFluri's Fine Chocolates of Martinsburg, W.Va. This small firm makes what is, in my opinion, the best chocolate available in the State of West Virginia (and I have a waistline that can advertise that, even if it is not all from that). . .:-D

Now, if only I can get a commission on these special orders. . .
