CNJ 113 moved under her own power for the first time today. It was only a few feet due to poor track and a repair that had to be made to a rod knuckle joint. There is still a lot of tweaking to do.

As far as I know, it went unrecorded. This is too bad because it was the first movement of Jersey Central Steam in about 50 odd years, a really historic event. Like all things of this sort, we didn't know if it would come off until all things were in place. The possibility of it not happening were good, and it didn't happen until the evening. I didn't even take a camera down. I was too busy firing her along with others (we only used wood--about 6 pick-ups worth). There is still alot to go until she gets on the road.

I just learned that one member may have taken photos. I will check. An article about the locomotive and photos (also the gallery section of the paper) are in the Pottsville Republican-Herald (republicanherald.com).

Excellent to hear! Congrats and thank you from the proud railfans!

P.S. - SHould definitely get 113 up to Steamtown and celebrate #26's return to steam when it's ready. (That is if 113 is ready to run before 26.) That would be awesome. 2 newly restored 0-6-0's! What an awesome photoshoot that would be!
