I stumbled across this while I was updating material for my coal mining book... http://industrialrail.5u.com/ A lot of the links have been "coming soon" for a while, which makes me think they do most of their business on Facebook (sigh), but what's there is interesting. The "lost" 1918 locomotive came from a mine a few miles from here. |

They are still active, they just down post much anywhere, including facebook. They have been working on some neat stuff and I would venture a guess that most of their silence falls under the "loose lips" catagory. |

Glad to hear they're working, because the stuff on the site is very well done. That tiny locomotive where the battery box is bigger than the rest of it--and the rest all fit on one pallet!--was a spectacular save. I'd like to see some of their other restorations. A continuous miner is one of the scariest-looking machines ever built. Undercutters don't do badly at that, either--giant chainsaws on wheels come straight out of horror movies. |
