There is a new FLIMSIES posting today of a group near Morehead, Kentucky that is attempting to restore what is described as an old C&O caboose. The photo shows a center cupola caboose, which could be ex-C&O I guess, although no info as to the road number of the car is given. The accompaning video, narrated by a volunteer named Steve Young, shows work being done and future plans for movement and restoration. Mr. Young also mentions a former Morehead & North Fork boxcar that the group hopes to acquire. That boxcar was pictured here on RyPN in the past I believe. He also states that future plans call for trying to acquire a steam locomotive and tender. I recall that there was one located at the old M&NF enginehouse until very recently. Seems as if the move to form a rail preservation movement there, may have started just a little bit too late. Be that as it may, I guess we should at least give these gentleman our good wishes for their efforts.

Why not? If one can't succeed therefore others can't succeed? If there's anything I've learned in railway preservation it's that most groups are held back by their own self-imposed limitations, their own rigid rules and thinking. So along comes some new guy, and he doesn't know what he can't do. He is blissfully unaware of those self-imposed limitations and JUST DOES the thing everyone's been holding out as impossible.

It's quite comical when it happens. All the old fuddy-duddies are like "What? Huh? What just happened???"
And they don't like it one bit. Oh no sir, Mr. Horse.

So let the kids have their fun. IDIC. Never know what might come of it!
