I took some pictures and am hoping someone will jump in and fill the gaps in what I observed.

The building is called Barrett Station Visitor's Center. It has four major rooms. The gallery has a very good photographic display called Whistle Stop on Presidential Campaigning by train.

And there is a top-of-the-line museum store with a snack bar.

Adjacent to it looks to be the large multipurpose room set up then for snack eating.

Roanoke's Museum has a room set PERFECTLY with photos.

Rather then taking a large room and leaving it completely empty, they used a much smaller room and set it up like a mini-maze with pictures everywhere.

The gift shop looks nice - hopefully it caters to railfans as well as Thomas fans.
And makes a nice chunk of cash for the Museum.

Now - how about a pic of the newly restored Reading steam powered inspection engine known as the "Black Diamond"? Hopefully, it's been tastefully displayed and not parked outside randomly by a storage shed all by itself like the incredibly rare Aerotrain.
