Post subject:  Silverton runs curtailed

From the Narrow Gauge Discussion Forum, it appears Durango & Silverton runs to Silverton have been voluntarily curtailed for now. Short trips will operate to Hermosa, and other passengers will be bussed to Rockwood to ride through the Animas canyon, pulled by their new GE diesel. Businesses in both Durango and Silverton are concerned, as the train is now their main source of income. Some different from the 1960s, when the head of the Chamber of Commerce was quoted saying "You couldn't pay me to take that dirty trip". One Durango Herald article below:

Post subject:  State unemployment

I presume any full time workers on D&S and C&TS would qualify for state unemployment (since neither is considered a "railroad" by the RRB anymore) if laid off. Here in NY State, they'd probably do as well on state unemployment as working. How would they fare in NM and CO?
