Post subject:  Lee Alley obituary- owned the N&W 382 whistle

He was a very nice gentleman, and demonstrated his whistle collection on a special air compressor equipped truck at many events on the east coast.

Gaylord Lee Alley, age 76, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Wellmont Hospice House. He was born March 14, 1936, to the late Roscoe Alley and Eva Jackson Alley. He had lived in the Bristol since 1965 and drove a truck for Umberger Trucking, Mason Dixon and ABF Trucking. Mr. Alley had a love of steam train whistles and was a member of the Watauga Railroad Historical Association. He was of the Methodist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Lavelle Alley; two sons, Dennis Alley and John Alley and by a brother, Drayton Alley.

Survivors include children, Mike Alley and wife, Rosemary, Sharon "Sherry" Dowell and husband, David, Melinda Bowlin and husband, Neil; brothers, Russell Alley and wife, Janie, Jackie Alley and wife, Elma; sisters, Betty Lou Creger, Charlene Brooks, Margie Lawson and husband, Harlan; grandchildren, Matthew Alley, Shelly Fuel, Lauren Davis, Sarah Owens, Seth Alley, Shanna Alley, Brody Thomas, Gracie Dowell; great-grandchildren, Ellie Davis, Brooklyn Fuel, Kensley Owens, Kipp Davis, Baby Fuel on the way; and several nieces and nephews; his special friends, his dog, Penny and his cat, Miss Mollie. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2012, from the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Estel Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the funeral service. The interment service and burial will be in Rural Retreat, Va. at 12 noon on Monday. Online condolences may be registered at http://www.Weaverfuneralhome.net. Weaver Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

There will be an auction of some of his railroad items on July 21, 2012.
