I was wondering if anyone knows of a source, or has a need for Dudley 80lbs bolts and hardware (Bold, Washer & Nut). I ask, as at the RGVRRM, part of our railroad was built with 80lbs dudley, salvaged from the NYC's Peanut line. As time has worn on, the OTM has not gotten any younger, or easier to find.

Now, granted I'd imagine we are in a fairly unique situation, being that Dudley was the NYC's own rail type. We have looked into getting them custom ordered, but I figured I would ask, as the more ordered, the less they are ;)

Specifically, the bolt head has a square "collar" on it, as opposed to an oval. They are 3/4" 10x4 3/4"

Thanks

Dave

I know of lots of track bolt suppliers, but not any that make a square head. They're all "BHON" (Button Head, Oval Neck) as per AREMA standards.

If you were on the west coast, I'd suggest Portland Bolt located someplace in Oregon, where was it again? Oh, yeah, Portland...

They do great work, reasonable prices and quality products. Custom orders are a specialty of theirs, and I suspect that as long as you can tell them what you want, they can source or make it.

Of course "custom" doesn't go with "cheap", but I've found their pricing to be reasonable.

I also suspect there are other custom bolt suppliers, maybe one closer to your location?

No they are button head ... I guess I should have just used that term.

Yes, someone else has looked into a "local" supplier for bolts. We have a price, but I was curious to see if anyone else is in need of similar hardware :)

Dave, you might try Lewis Bolt and Nut. If they don't make them they used to. Ask for Dave Barry. They are in Wayzata, MN.

I've had good luck with Lewis Bolt and Nut in the past for things like bridge bolts and other unusual bolts.

We have a bit of what I think is 80lb Dudley at Beaver Lawrence Ry His. Soc., but didn't notice anything unusual about the bolts when we disassembled it. We do have an option on another 500ft of track, so we might be interested. Please PM me.
