I hope this is an acceptable topic. While cleaning out my office, I came across a snapshot taken by one of my children, of ex_Canadian Pacific G5 Pacific #1201 running as part of a CPR History Train. Today she's cold and stored indoors at Ottawa's Museum of Science and Technology, where I was told that she needs some frame shimming. I can report that I've seen all the survivors of this class live and under steam over the past 50 years!

Anyone have some other lost, forgotten, then found photos to add? The number of Kodak Brownie camera negatives of (last) steam trips must be in the hundreds of millions!

The differences between a good photographer and a bad photographer:

1) a good photographer never shows anyone else the bad stuff;
2) organization, cataloging, and marketing/accessibility.

The good photos are worthless if no one else knows about them, or if they get thrown out along with the rest of the "old rubbish" when someone dies or because no one can identify the subject, date, location, etc.

The late George Foster told me in his opinion, some of the best historical steam images he saw were slightly out of focus "snaps" taken by kids towed by Grandpa to the railroad yard.

I had someone once tell me he got such interesting photos on a cross country trip because it was all new to him. He took photos the local railfans never would take because to them it was the same old stuff that they had seen for years.
