FLASH......... From the Chicago Tribune this Tuesday, July 24, 2012: "The Santa Fe sign that sat atop a downtown building for decades won't be straying far from home. The Illinois Railway Museum will take posession of the sign that advertised the former Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway from the roof of Chicago's Railway Exchange Building at 224 S, Michigan Ave." Its quite a fete to move such a large sign but Irm has the capability to do so. This is another good reason to visit Irm this year and next! |

As a long time member of Orange Empire, I'm proud of my "home road", but take my orange hard hat off to the Illinois museum. When it comes to a variety of steam, diesel, electric and architectural relics preserved, they get the gold star. |
