Sorry for the giant photo size. Note that since she was photographed for steamlocomotive.info they have built a new shelter for her. She is in great shape, someone is even keeping the guano off her on a regular basis.

Nice photo! She is one of FOUR NP Class Q3 pacifics in preservation! 2153 and 2156 are at the Minnesota Transportation Museum in St. Paul, MN and 2152 is at the Northern Pacific Railway Museum in Toppenish, WA.

Sure is a nice looking engine. I think that MTM was working on one of their Q3's to restore it to service. How is that currently going?

The restoration is going very slowly as only very limited $$ have been available. We are working to get the locomotive back on its wheels so it can be moved to a better part of the roundhouse (i.e. a track with a pit). Most of the pins and bushings for the spring rigging have been made and the spring hangers refurbished. Work is starting on the driving boxes which are pretty worn out. No work has been done on the boiler for a number of years.
