Canadian Pacific has announced that they are building a small yard along side of what used to be the D&H shops in Colonie, New York.
In the process of building this yard, they plan to remove a number of pieces of "abandoned" (RR's quote) equipment that is in the way of the yard construction.
This equipment includes:
S-1 Switcher # 417 X-LIRR
B&M RS-3 (shell)
2 X-Albany Port ALCO's-RS-3 and S-2
X-D&H passenger car (rare piece)
NYC baggage car
Wooden Caboose
Wooden Boxcar

All this stuff has been vandalized badly over the last 25 years and some was owned by the M&H Chapter NRHS and some was privately owned.

According to the Times Union, this yard project will be 4 tracks wide and run quite a distance. The project is to be completed by October 2012.

Is the "dig" at the AHTS really necessary? What ever has happened to civility?!

This equipment is expected to be cut up in the next week or two. See the photo taken a few days ago.
