Check out our web page for some great pictures of moving two 100 year old interurbans from our old car barn to our new car barn.
Thanks to the City of Surrey, B.C., Gwil Cranes, PNR (Pacific Northern Railworks), SRY, Southern Rail of BC (Raillink)

It was six years ago this month that 1225 was loaded at Orange Empire to "take off to the Great White North". The loading process was enlivened by a wind, rain and hail storm that had some of us taking shelter in the car. Some OERM members, who remembered when the car came south to Perris on its own wheels, were sad to see it go, since it did run. But the body was in sad shape, and there were several Pacific Electric cars ahead of it on the "to-do" list. Today we see the efforts of the FVHRS rewarded with a car near "home rails", in better than new condition and in a new home building. Well done!

What is the heritage of the city car stored in the new barn? I could not find anything on Hicks' database.

Car 30 is not BCER streetcar. It is similar to some of the cars that used to run in Victoria, B.C. And as Paul Harvey used to say: "And now for the rest of the story." It is a Porto Car and the story I got is that it was brought over to North America by Portland, Oregon and then found to be not what they wanted and then sold to a group in Victoria, B.C. They had hopes of staring a heritage route in that city. Over the years it was cosmetically restored, left outside, restored again. Finally it was placed in a BC Transit bus barn until the building was sold. All the time the Victoria group was trying to get something going but with no luck. Finally, The FVHRS agreed to help bring it to Surrey as another group in the town centre we are in (Cloverdale) wanted to get it operating and run it through their small business area. Again, for years nothing happened. We had it in our Sullivan car barn until 1225 came back. It was again shipped out and for years was under a tarp. We again agreed to house it in our new car barn for a set period.

Sounds like a win-win-win situation all around. Great story here.
