The ARM was founded before the Brazil open cars were brought to the USA. I believe ARM's first meeting was at the Branford museum in 1961.

Thank you, Jim. And you're right, the organizational meeting of the Association of Railway Museums was held at Branford (Shore Line Trolley Museum) at East Haven in 1961.

As an aside, the majority of the railway preservation efforts back in 1961 were by electric preservation groups. However, among the early members of ARM were Puget Sound and Colorado RR Museum also Southeast outside of Atlanta.
