The description seems valid. The owner's not claiming it's the number plate from the front of the engine, and the starting bid was about $10, so it doesn't seem to be a scam.

Looks like it just about hit scrap value for the brass ($90). Might be a cheap way to have a spare "stealable" plate floating around for 614, if Ross doesn't have some already.

Interesting marking. Ellis props was one of the big prop rental houses in Hollywood for years and sold off their warehouses some years back.
