Does anyone have an idea where all of Lucius Beebe's negative collection wound up?
Back in the early '70s William K. Barham gave me all of his negatives, photos and books and told me at the time he had loaned Beebe quite a few negatives for use in his books and hadn't had them returned. If I recall, Beebe had already passed away and I wrote a letter to Charles Clegg asking about this and got a somewhat incoherent answer.
The negs I am trying to find are all Frisco, the best of which is the Frisco doubleheader shot on the cover of Trains in Transition. There are also some other nice Frisco shots from the Nansen-Oaks-Barham team in the books.
I'd sure love to find these and return them to Bill's collection.

Clegg's collecton wound up at the California State Railroad Museum. You can ask them about what you are looking for.

"Most of Beebe's papers, his private car The Gold Coast, and the photograph and negative collections of the two men [Beebe and Clegg] are now held by the California State Railroad Museum." --"Mixed Legacy," by Tony Reevy and Dan Cupper, Railroad History, Fall-Winter 2005, p. 36.

Thank you. I wonder who would be a good contact for a question like this? I knew someone out here would come up with the answer.

The person I'd suggest contacting is Ellen Halteman, librarian at the museum, at
EHALTEMAN@parks.ca.gov.

Ellen would probably be the best. Her current position is now a notch above the library and in charge of all collections at the Museum.
