Tuesday in two scenes from Sons of Anarchy, Southern Pacific 50 was used as a backdrop. Two engine doors were open but the engines were completly intact. Now the engine only had the number 50 on the cab but it was grey with red ends. There was also the end of another old SP engine in a few scenes but not enough to identify it. Makes you wonder how mant railfans took notice of this engine?

What is Southern Pacific 50?
Google has been no help. I was thinking U50’s since you mentined multiple engines, but none were numbered #50.

I figured the 50 is the second and third number in the actual four digit number and the doors were open to cover a name. Maybe they were allowed to film in the area but had to hide the true identity of the loco.
