I am looking for pictures of a journal hook or lifter with dimensions for replication. If you could post a picture with measurements-would be most appreciated. |

Go in the shop and ask for one, there is a half a dozen or so laying around, 3 or 4 different styles. Of course , no one will know what they are. LOL Mike Tillger |

Interesting drawings but all my journal tools working surfaces have been treated with "braze" to keep from scratching the axle. Any of yours that way ??? |

Journal tool drawings usually specify "mild steel". This to priotect the journal, which is made of heat treated medium carbon steel, from damage. I have never seen any journal tools protected with brazing, but it might been for a speical application where the railway's axles were not as hard as MCB axles, maybe a mine or industrial railway. |
