While looking for any video clips of the recent steam operation on Pike's Peak, I ran across this. It's a preview for a commercial tape on Colorado railroading, and is notable for being footage of the Midland Terminal (Colorado Midland successor road). This road would die in steam, and interestingly, some of the engines were former US Army 0-6-0s that had received a pilot truck to make them 2-6-0s. It's my understanding that the Army had designed these locomotives with such a conversion in mind. anticipating that such a machine might be needed for freight service.

These converted 0-6-0s are fairly prominent in this footage--enjoy!

Great clips! I sure do like those War Department 0-6-0's converted to over-the-road Moguls by the MT.
